(Estherville)-The Estherville Garden Club will hold their annual plant sale this weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Estherville Garden Club’s Annual Plant Sale will be held on Saturday morning at Spurgin Park Shelter House.
Club President Nancy Anderson says a wide variety of plants will be offered. “Down in Spurgin Park, which is on 7th Avenue South here in Estherville, in the shelter there, we’ll have a plant sale. Our members bring plants out of their gardens. Today we worked at the Rock Garden for a couple of hours and we divided some of the plants down there. So, we’ll take those to the plant sale on Saturday too, hostas and lilies and some other things out of the Rock Garden, but we have members that bring Different kinds of things.”
She notes that the annual sale helps raise funds for community projects and scholarships. “It’s a fundraiser for us. When we need to buy more plants for the Rock Garden to fill in, like a couple of years ago, it was flooded, and there’s was nothing in the bottom, we had to replace all of that. We give away a couple of scholarships to kids that want to do something with gardening, that kind of thing, and just other expenses that we have through the Garden Club.”
The sale will run from 9 to noon on Saturday in Estherville.
