(Spencer)-The Seasons Center of Spencer has received a grant to help expand its services. KUOO’s Mathew Grisham has the story:

Seasons Center Story

The Seasons Center of Spencer has received $25,000 in a Food Bank grant to help those in need in their 19 county service area. This grant is part of a response by the Iowa Food Bank Association to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding hopes to help the Food Bank services reach individuals and families who are experiencing food insecurities that have an impact on their mental health and overall well-being.

Sarah Heinrichs, Programs Support Coordinator, outlined some of the goals of this new grant money…

“With this funding, we are looking at broadening that (Food Bank programs) and doing some mobile food pantry drive-through pickups in multiple communities over our 19 county service area.”

The grant has also allowed the Seasons Center to purchase a used van, which will be used for things such as Pop-Up mobile food drives. Heinrichs says if you need help to please contact the Seasons Center…

“I would say there’s no shame to access the help. We’re here to provide assistance and that’s kind of really the message behind this project that we’re doing.”

If you are looking for any sort of help with food or other types of counseling, please contact the Seasons Center at 712-262-2922. They also have a crisis line, which is open 24 hours a day, every day, that number is 844-345-4569.
