(Estherville)– A boil advisory has been issued for a portion of Estherville after a contractor hit a water main earlier today (Wednesday).
City officials say there’s a potential for bacterial contamination due to a loss of pressure in the line.
The affected area is bordered on the north by Murray Road, east of North Iowa Lumber to the city limits; on the east by South 28th Street, on the south by 9th Avenue South, and on the west by properties with water service connecting with 3rd Avenue South from Central Avenue to South 18th Street.
City officials say the broken main has been repaired and repressurized. They add bacterial samples have been collected, and that the boil advisory will remain in place until laboratory tests are satisfactory.
