(Okoboji)– The Okoboji City Council Tuesday adopted a revised timeframe for some paving projects, including Lakeshore Drive.
Jason Eyegabrod of Beck Engineering is overseeing the project for the city. He says the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District, which will also be doing some work along Lakeshore Drive, has had to re-bid their project. Eyegabrod outlined the new timeline for the paving project…
“We’ll still do all the storm and curb and gutter work in 2021 under the same timeframe, from August 9th through the end of October. We will also do the asphalt paving from Highway 71 all the way around to County Home Road (Nature Center Road) in the fall of 2021. What we would forego is paving from County Home Road (Nature Center Road) up to Pikes Point. That would happen in the spring of ’22. We would like to hope for favorable spring weather and have a completion date of May 20, 2022.”
Eyegabrod said the city could still proceed with paving on the original schedule, only to have sections of it torn back up by the sewer work.
The project also includes paving on Country Club Drive as well as the parking lot at Speier Park. A bidletting is scheduled for later this month.
