(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) approved a resolution authorizing the county’s Trails Board to apply for funding for another expansion of the “Tatonka Ska Trace” trail on the former Iowa and Northwestern Railroad right-of-way. Trails Director Erin Reed says this would allow a three and-a-half mile west expansion from Montgomery. She says the Iowa Department of Transportation is making available $5 million in trails funding from COVID relief funds and that they’ll be applying for some of that…
Reed says whether or not the trail will be expanded any further west of Lake Park remains a question as of right now…
Reed says Emmet county has already expressed interest in connecting with the Dickinson county trails.
