(Paullina)– Multiple charges have been filed against a man in connection with a pursuit this past Saturday evening in O’Brien county that involved several law enforcement agencies.
Authorities say it started when the Paullina Police Chief attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Alex Delashmutt. They say Delashmutt pulled into a driveway, then turned around and took off in the opposite direction. The pursuit continued another 10 miles or so before officers lost site of the vehicle. Authorities spotted the vehicle again a short time later with the pursuit resuming for another 10 miles before the chief again lost sight of the vehicle.
Officers from several other agencies responded to the location with the pursuit resuming before the vehicle Delashmutt was driving wound up in a field culvert, where it came to a stop. Delashmutt was taken into custody following a foot pursuit. He was booked into jail on two counts of felony eluding, 2nd offense OWI and driving while barred. Delashmutt was also issued a number of traffic citations.
