43rd Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire & Rescue Fundraiser to be held April 30 & May 1

April 27, 2021

(Arnolds Park)-A big fundraiser is on tap this coming weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

43rd Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire & Rescue Fundraiser to be held April 30 & May 1

The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue Department’s 43rd Annual Pancake Fundraiser will be held on Friday and Saturday.

Chief Chris Yungbluth says, proceeds raised will be used for watercraft.  “We’re putting it out there for a couple of personal watercraft.  The market this year is really tight.  We’ve had a great relationship with our local marinas for several years where we were part of a lend/lease program.  Due to the tightness of the market this year, the lend/lease program has been stopped, so we did have to purchase a couple of watercraft, and we’re looking to replenish those funds that we used to purchase those two watercraft.”

He adds that fire safety equipment will be on display.  “We always have kids that like crawling in and out of the fire trucks.  We’ll have our fire safety house that has fire safety messages in it, and this year, we actually have firefighters that need to fulfill a homework assignment to complete some of their training, and so they’re going to be out there talking about fire safety with the kids for just a little bit, it’ll only be a few minutes of their time, and then of course, they can have fun bouncing and sliding down the slides and doing all that good stuff, too.”

He notes that a special raffle will be held.  “The raffle will come as a surprise announcement, hopefully in the next day or two we’ll release a little bit more information on that but, it will be a 1 in 100 chance to win a pretty good prize and we’ll have a little  more information released on facebook.”

The Fundraiser will run from 5 to 8 on Friday evening and 7 to noon on Saturday.
