(Spirit Lake)– With spring planting kicking into high gear comes a reminder for drivers to be aware of slow moving farm equipment on the roads. Joel DeJong, an agronomist with the ISU Extension and Outreach, says we need to plan accordingly and pay extra close attention to what’s ahead of us on the road…
“Leave extra time in your game plan so you’re not in a hurry, so you don’t put yourself in a position that’s riskier than it needs to be so you give some potential hazard to yourself.”
He says the best advice is to plan ahead and allow some extra time just to be on the safe side…
“Plan more time and please, please be patient. Agriculture is a huge industry. This is a big week for a lot of those producers. We are going to see a lot of that equipment out on the road.”
DeJong says it’s also vital to not be distracted when you’re driving.
