(Spencer)– The city of Spencer is proceeding with the second phase of improvements to its wastewater treatment facility. The city council Monday evening approved a bid of a little more than $3.9 million for the project from Christianson Construction of Pender, Nebraska.
The city council accepted the bid after tabling action on it last month, after learning the cost was considerably higher than the engineer’s estimate of $3.275 million.
The bid approved last (Mon.) night also includes some additional work included in a change order. Officials say the higher price also reflects recent dramatic increases in the cost of construction materials.
