(Everly)– An Everly man is in the Clay county jail on multiple charges after allegedly choking and strangulating his girlfriend Sunday.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 1:00 pm Sunday to the 500 block of East St. Mary’s Street in Everly after getting a report of an assault.
An investigation revealed the victim had been choked and strangled to the point her airway had been impeded. She had also been struck multiple times and sustained several injuries. She was treated on the scene by paramedics.
