(Spencer)– Spencer Municipal Utilities has been honored with a national award for outstanding electric safety practices. The Safety Award of Excellence for safe operating practices in 2020 was presented by the Public Power Association.
329 utilities from across the country were entered. Those entries were divided into categories based on the number of worker hours and were ranked based on the most incident-free records during 2020.
SMU earned 1st place in Group C in the category for utilities with 30,000 to 59,999 electric worker-hours of annual worker exposure.
The safety awards have been held annually for the last 65 years.
