(Spirit Lake)– An Avera Home Medical Equipment store is coming to Lakes Regional Healthcare. LRH President and CEO Jason Harrington tells KUOO news the new 2,500 square foot store will be located in the former Lakes Family Practice clinic space on the northwest corner of the hospital’s campus. He says having a home medical equipment store within the facility is important for a couple of reasons…
“Healthcare has changed and obviously due to covid we see people’s, more and more healthcare needs being met at home and trying to transition people outside of the inpatient setting or even the outpatient settings sometimes. So I think having a home medical equipment store on our campus will provide much better access for patients. I think from a patient compliance perspective often times when people are leaving the hospital they may have a need for a piece of equipment or oxygen or a wheelchair or other thing like that. And I think being able to have that access here on the campus creates greater compliance; creates better outcomes for our patients. We also believe that we’ll have a fairly extensive inventory of a variety of different pieces of equipment and services that I think again will provide additional access for our patients. So we’re very excited about the venture.”
Harrington says construction is expected to begin in April with completion scheduled for late this summer.
