Car Vs. School Bus Collision Claims The Life Of A 9-Year-Old Child

(Inwood)– The Iowa State Patrol has released the name of the 3rd grader killed in a car vs. school bus accident.

According to the ISP’s crash report, 9-year-old Jessica Yeaman of Inwood, Iowa was killed in a crash Friday morning when the car she was a passenger in rear-ended a school bus for the West Lyon Community School District.

The driver of the car, 17-year-old Rachel Gapinski, was injured in the crash and transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. The school district has confirmed none of the students on the bus were injured.

The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on County Highway A50 near Beech Avenue, about four miles southwest of Inwood.

At the time of the accident, the ISP says the bus was stopped so children could get on.
