(Emmetsburg)– A man charged in the death of a Washington, Iowa man who’s body was found last summer in Virgin Lake near Ruthven has pled guilty in the case.
Allan Schwidder pled guilty Friday to 2nd degree murder as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
Schwidder was charged in the death of 27-year-old Rollin Bontrager. A report by the state medical examiner said Bontrager died from blunt force injuries consistent with being struck by a pair of bolt cutters.
Schwidder was originally charged with first degree murder after being arrested in the case back in August of last year.
