(Okoboji)-The Dickinson County All School Art Show will open this weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Pearson Lakes Art Center will present the Dickinson County All School Art Show March 12 through April 17.
Visual Arts Director Danielle Clouse Gast says, hundreds of works of art will be on display. “Pearson Lakes Art Center annually displays the work of students from Dickinson County, and that’s been the Dickinson County All School Show. It’s about 320 works of art, all in one space in the galleries. So, we fill up the lobby and the Monte Pearson Gallery when people come in. It is a chance to see the progression from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and also the outstanding things that are happening in our schools in the art programs right now.”
She adds that a special exhibit will feature younger artists. “We offer art classes here at the Center and this year we are setting up a gallery show in Artsmart, and that features the work that’s done in these after school classes, maybe the pre-school art program. The age range usually goes from 3 up to 6th grade, and it’s a building full of color right now.”
She notes that the Art Center is open to the public. “Right now we’re open Tuesday through Saturday 10-4, Thursdays 10-9, and we encourage people to come visit the exhibit. to see the children’s art work in person is truly an experience because last year we weren’t able to, so we’re excited to have the doors back open, and for those parents to bring in their kids to see the works of art they’ve made.”
