(Okoboji)-Imagine Iowa Great Lakes is seeking artists and sites for a new outdoor art project, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Imagine Iowa Great Lakes has announced calls for artists and locations for their Artist Painted Furniture project.
Executive Director Michelle Goodenow explains. “The Artist Painted Furniture is part of our Place Making Project effort and we’re really just looking to build connections between people and place, you know, reimagine everyday spaces and bring color and creativity into the region. So, this year we are going to have six sets of furniture. A set would be either a picnic table, a bench or a pair of Adirondack chairs. We’re looking for local artists and businesses. The artists will be commissioned to paint furniture during the Art in the Park event on August 14th. They’ll have obviously, quite a bit of time to do their design and development, and then we’re looking for businesses and organizations in the area that would like to host the furniture. They actually would end up owning the furniture.”
She notes that applications are available online. “We have an artist application and a site application, and they’re both on our web page and they’ll be put up on our facebook page, as well. We’re partnering with Pearson Lakes Art Center, they’re going to have it on their facebook page as well.
