(Spirit Lake)– A three vehicle collision Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 71 and 34th Street in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
The Spirit Lake Police Department says Diane Ringhofer of Okoboji was driving a 2015 GMC Yukon northbound and was attempting to turn left onto 34th Street when she pulled into the path of a southbound 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Kathleen Brown of Arnolds Park. The impact caused the vehicle driven by Ringhofer to spin. It then collided with a 2009 Lincoln driven by Thomas Tauchnitz of Spirit Lake.
Brown was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
$4,500 in damage was estimated to the GMC driven by Ringhofer; damage to the vehicle driven by Brown was estimated at $5,000 and the one driven by Tauchnitz sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage.
Ringhofer was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
