Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Announces Rock The Roof Concert Lineup

February 24, 2021

(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association has announced it’s lineup of “Rock The Roof” concerts for the upcoming season. Executive Director Clay Norris tells KUOO news they’ll be kicking off the season March 18th with the group “Rock a la Carte”…Norris & Rock The Roof01

“If you know Rock a la Carte, they can pretty much morph into whatever they need or want to be for the evening. It happens to be the day after St. Patrick’s Day so we’re going to plan to have a little bit of a St. Patrick’s Day theme that night, and we’re still under, in March, we feel like we better follow the same protocols that we have been for the last couple of events that we’ve had. So we’re going to have a maximum of 300 tickets that we will sell in socially distance sets of 2 for 20 or 4 for $32.00 or you can reserve a booth that seats up to six for $90.00. You’ll have to wear a mask at all times except when you’re seated with your pod of friends or family, and the tickets are going to be available on our website which is iowarocknroll.com/events, or at the door.”

Norris says the concert schedule resumes May 6th with Denny and the DC Drifters and a “spring prom”…Norris & Rock The Roof02

“We actually are going to recreate a prom from the 1960’s. We’re targeting about the period of time when John Senn, our founder, would have been in DeeJay and Runaways. We’re going to have Denny and the DC Drifters performing that night. They’re going to help us with this and it ought to be a ton of fun. So, you know, if people want to come dressed up like the prom, either past or present, they certainly can and so it will be a wonderful night.”

The remainder of the schedule includes Mogen’s Heroes and Surfin’ Safari May 27th; Galaxy June 10th; Starfire June 24th; Interstate Cruisers July 8th; Borderline Outlaws August 5th; Sean Benz August 12th; Richie Lee August 19th; and “The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Board of Directors and All-Stars September 2nd.

Norris says they’ll be featuring some yet to be announced concerts as well…Norris & Rock The Roof03

“We need to expand to younger demographics as well and so we’re going to be having a few concerts, so stay tuned. Some of them are going to be outdoors, some of them are going to be indoors. One of them is a particularly big name. We are going to be having some exciting things that are going to be hopefully expand our audience this summer. Just hoping and praying that we can pull all of this off safely and it looks like we’re headed in that right direction.”

Additional information on the events will be released as the dates draw closer.
