(Sioux Center)– A Rock Rapids woman was injured early Wednesday in a two vehicle collision on Highway 75 about three miles north of Sioux Center.
Sioux county authorities say 26-year-old Jessica Chinn of Rock Rapids was driving a 2004 Oldsmobile northbound and 20-year-old Sieranna Bazaldua of Boyden was backing a 2006 Saturn from a residential driveway onto the highway when the two collided. Deputies say Chinn attempted to avoid colliding with Bazaldua’s vehicle but her brakes failed.
Chinn was taken by ambulance to a Sioux Center hospital with minor injuries.
She was cited for operating a motor vehicle with defective brakes. Bazaldua was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
