(Sioux City)– A California woman has been sentenced to more than seven years in a meth conspiracy that had ties to northwest Iowa.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 34-year-old Marissa Weisbly of Los Osos, California pled guilty in August of last year to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
At sentencing, Weisbly was found to have been involved in trafficking 70 pounds of the drug across California, Iowa and South Dakota. Court documents say that on February 8th of last year law enforcement searched a vehicle in the Grand Falls Casino parking lot in Larchwood. Authorities say they found nearly three pounds of meth in that vehicle, which had ties to Weisbly, along with drug trafficking materials. Documents also state that earlier that winter, Weisbly and her co-conspirators brought pounds of meth to the Midwest for distribution.
Weisbly was also sentenced to serve a three month term of supervised release in addition to the prison term.
