(Arnolds Park)-Things will be a little different at Arnolds Park Amusement Park during Winter Games this year, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Arnolds Park Amusement Park is encouraging participants in the University of Okoboji Winter Games to follow safety guidelines due to COVID-19 concerns.
Marketing Manager Paul Plumb explains. “Everything there is going to be spread out on the Preservation Plaza to Lake Street, in the Pavilion and the concerts in the Roof Garden, but we’ll have a capacity on all those indoor events, and then, the outdoor events, we just ask that people stay safe, wear your mask when you’re around other people and keep within your own group only. We will have a bar located, but we will not have heating inside for that bar so it’s a bar where you can go to the tent, get your drink and then go out into the courtyard area that we’ll have set up.”
He adds that the closing ceremony will be slightly different. “Plans are there to do a few things a little differently. There will probably be a little quicker ceremony that normal with the Burning of the Greens. We don’t want people bunching up and being right there all together shoulder to shoulder, so we’re trying to keep people apart and have that go fairly quickly, and then normally when the fireworks start, people do disperse and kind of watch from all over the Greenspace and Preservation Plaza there, so that will spread people out that way, too.”
