Additional Details Being Released In The Death Of A Lake Park Woman

December 28, 2020

(Lake Park)– We’re learning some additional details into the death of a Lake Park woman.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety announced today (Mon.) the victim of a death investigation in Lake Park has been identified as 25-year-old Angel Bastman of Lake Park. Her body was found in her residence at 104 Maple Avenue in Lake Park December 22nd.

Investigators learned on December 22nd that Bastman had previously rented a vehicle in her name. Investigators were unable to locate that vehicle and placed a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) for the vehicle. On Saturday, December 26th, Sioux City police located the missing rental car being driven in Sioux City and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled, leading officers on a pursuit. The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Justice Bernston, had been involved in a traffic accident and was charged by Sioux City police with felony eluding and driving while barred.

Authorities say the death investigation of Bastman is ongoing.
