Dickinson Co. Supervisors Updated On Comm. Center Upgrades & Funding

December 28, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– A major upgrade of the Dickinson County Communications Center is still in the works. Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret updated the Board of Supervisors on the plans last week…Ehret & Comm Center Upgrades

“We’re still on track to do the project next November, December. Late winter, early spring we’re going to start getting firm quotes and prices on things so. And again we’re replacing the work station furniture in there, the radio system, the radio counsel it’s called, and then the carpet while we’re doing all of that we’re going to get all of that replaced. Everything in there was new to the Comm Center in 2006 when that half of the courthouse was built. The big thing is that Motorola is not going to support or service that radio system after 2026 so we want to get it replaced on our terms and not theirs.”

Ehret previously requested the county fund the project to the tune of $242,000. The supervisors allocated half of that funding from the current fiscal year’s budget. Ehret last week formally requested the second half of the funds be set aside in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The supervisors will take the request into consideration during upcoming budget talks.
