Prairie Lakes AEA Awarded Grant To Train More Computer Science Teachers

December 21, 2020

(Pocahontas)– The Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency has been awarded a grant of a little more than $68,000 to train more computer science teachers. It’s made possible through the Computer Science Professional Development Incentive Fund as part of an effort to expand computer science instruction in Iowa’s K-12 schools.

18 grants totaling a little more than $883,000 were awarded to school districts, nonpublic schools and area education agencies that created collaborative proposals to serve multiple schools.

Officials say the primary intent of the program is to train instructors to teach computer science in the next 6 to 12 months. Recipients will report their progress after the 2020-’21 school year.
