(Spencer)-The Spencer Chamber is holding a Beard Competition, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has the details:
The Spencer Chamber of Commerce has announced a Beard Competition, which will launch on December 31.
Program Director Becky Fear-Hatting explains. “The competition is a Beard Competition. It’s going to be part of the 37th Annual Flagfest and Spencer’s Sesquicentennial, which is the 150 year anniversary which happens in 2021.”
She says there are a number of categories. “Well, it’s guys and women, there is a women category in this beard contest. It is quite interesting, but what we’re asking is, especially the men, if they’re interested in joining the beard contest, the categories are Best Overall Beard, Longest Beard, Thickest Beard, Most Original Beard, and then, of course, Best Effort. They need to register at 513 Bar at 5:13 to 7:13 on December 31st. They need to come in and register. They need to be clean shaven, and we will take a photo to prove to everybody that they were, so that everybody starts on the same page. We’re going to put everybody on an even playing field here. You’re all clean shaven on December 31st and you have 6 months to grow a beard.”
