IGL Chamber Announces Large & Small Business Of The Year

December 17, 2020

(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of this year’s Large and Small Business awards. Board member Kris Walker says Arnolds Park Amusement Park is the winner in the large business category…Kris Walker01

“With this year being very hard for every one of us individually, that park had a challenge ahead of them staying open and yet remaining enjoyable for all ages. The park, its management, and all of their employees and volunteers had to be on board to get creative, which they did. They also saw how iconic the park is to the community as well as to our visitors. The park has made several changes and continues to make other changes to stay open during this pandemic without any substantial risk to their employees or the visitors, even coming up with something new this year, Boji Scare, which has turned out to be a big hit and I foresee it becoming a tradition for the park in years to come.”

Walker says the small business award winner is Ruthven Meat Locker…Kris Walker02

“They have hosted Business After 5 events and are always willing to give back to the community when called upon. They have been involved in the lakes community by sharing innovative ideas regarding COVID-19, providing free hand sanitizer and masks to the area schools and community members, for free. Providing local school children with time capsules during the initial shutdown. They also provided those community members who were laid off with free groceries and other necessities. They model a strong employee-based business culture by paying their employees when they were off work due to covid. They have had employees and family volunteer at chamber events. The Krafts have continuously showed support of their community by financial contributions and their volunteerism with the local schools and mental health programs.”

The announcements were made during the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting that was held virtually this year.
