(Spirit Lake)-A number of concerts will be presented online by Spirit Lake Students this week, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Spirit Lake Community Schools will feature a series of music concerts with students performing at the Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts.
Middle School Band Director Sally Ites says, the concerts will be live-streamed for viewing. “We are really excited for the kids to be able to have an audience. It’s one of the exciting things we get to do when we practice, and so, we are putting the kids on the stage, they’re going to be distanced, and they have bell covers on their instruments and we’re keeping our concerts very brief, so they’re not more than 30 minutes and so they can be safe for the kids, and then the public can go to YouTube, just search YouTube Sami Center, and the concerts will be live streamed as we are playing them. They’re not going to be archived, so you can’t go back in and view them afterward, but if you log in at the time that we’re playing, you can certainly see and hear the kids.”
She says the performances begin on Monday. “Monday, at 5:30 p.m., the High School Concert Band is going to perform, and then at 7:30 p.m. on Monday night, it’s going to be the Concert Choirs.”
The concerts will continue throughout the week. A number of elementary school concerts will be performed in January.
Schedule:
The High School Concert Band will perform on Monday, December 14, 5:30 p.m. followed by the High School Concert Choirs at 7:30 p.m.
The 7th & 8th Grade Concert Choirs will stream their concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2:00 p.m.
The Middle School Bands are as follows:
5th Grade Band, Thursday, December 17, 11:00 and 6th Grade Band at 1:15 p.m.; 7th Grade Band, Friday, December 18, 1:00 p.m. and 8th Grade Band, Monday, December 21, 3:00 p.m.
TK-6th Grade General music students will delay their Snow Show Winter Concerts to January and will air as follows:
TK/Kindergarten is Wednesday, January 20, 9:00; 1st Grade 10:00 and 2nd Grade 11:00.
The 3rd grade will be held Thursday, January 21, 9:00, and 4th Grade 10:00.
The 5th Grade is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 10:00 and 6th Grade at 11:00.
