(Okoboji)-Pearson Lakes Art Center will present a virtual holiday concert this year, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Pearson Lakes Art Center will present I’ll Be Home for Christmas featuring Tonic Sol Fa and The Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience on Thursday evening.
Johnson says the event is part of their virtual tour this season. “It’s our first ever virtual tour, and a lot of people are confused about, how is that a tour, but we have been doing live streams from our houses and various locations, and we thought, we want to do something on a grander scale, I guess, and try something that would be a little bit crazier. So, we came up with the idea of doing multiple shows with the areas and theatres that we usually work with, and try to do as much of a normal tour as we can, and by that I mean, we cater each show to that particular area. We try to use different charities, we even take an intermission in the middle of the show for a minute so people can peruse some of the products that we sell. We wanted it to be, like I said, as close to a normal touring schedule as possible even though it is a crazy year.”
He adds that special guests appear on the show. “I at one point filmed, I think, like 250 introductions to various cities and different things about the towns, and then I pulled different musicians who were available. Some of them are on some of the new songs, so we have different people from California, from London, all sorts of different people, again, depending on the night.”
