Dickinson County Nature Center to hold Winter Solstice Celebration on Family Nature Night December 18

The Dickinson County Nature Center will hold a Winter Solstice Celebration for their Family Nature Night on December 18.

Environmental Education Coordinator Bryanna Kuhlman explains.  “Three days before the actual Winter Solstice, we’re going to be going on a Jingle Bell Walk, where we’re going to encourage families to stay socially distant from others, and everyone will have bells, and we’re going to go on a walk and really just kind of embrace and enjoy one of the longer nights of the year.  Then we’re going to come back and read a story called The Shortest Day, and enjoy a fire.”

She notes that the event is free, however registration is required.  “Give the Nature Center a call at 712-336-6352.  We’ll get you signed up, and that’s just to help us make sure that we don’t go over the mandate numbers that the state has set aside and making sure that we’re keeping our numbers at a responsible level to make sure that we’re providing for safety of everyone.”
