(Des Moines)– A local housing program will get a share of more than $7 million in funding through grants recently awarded by the Iowa Finance Authority and its Local Housing Trust Fund program.
The Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund will be getting just under $300,000.
The agency serves Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Sioux counties.
The grant funds will be used for things such as preserving aging housing stock, subsidizing local rental and down payment assistance programs, low interest loans or grants for home rehabilitation, to finance construction of new single-family housing for low-income Iowans, to support housing for persons with disabilities, and for homeless assistance programs.
Statewide, officials say the funding will leverage an additional $2.6 million in other financing or roughly 38 cents for every dollar of local housing trust fund program funding.
