(Spencer)-The Spencer Chamber is encouraging people to “go local” this holiday season, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Spencer Chamber of Commerce has launched their Shine the Light Bingo campaign, which encourages residents to support local businesses and organizations.
Program Director Becky Fear-Hatting explains. “Shine the Light Bingo is an event to remind people to shop local, also to give local. Not every square on these 4 bingo sheets are pertaining to shopping, it’s also going out to restaurants, getting take out, paying something forward, doing something good for your neighbor, donating to your favorite charity. It’s about trying to help out all businesses and all organizations and everything in our local area.”
She adds that prize drawings will be held weekly. “Bingo can be across, up and down or diagonal, and once you get a bingo, turn your card into the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, mail it to us, however you want to get here. November 30th was the first drawing, and then December 7th will be a drawing, December 14th and December 21. We’ll have 4 drawings, the winner will have a chance at $50, and then after we’ve done all 4 drawings we’re putting all the names into a pot, and we will also draw for a grand prize of $100 in Chamber Dollars on the 21st.”
