(Algona)– An investigation is underway into the death of an inmate at the Kossuth county jail in Algona.
Jailers discovered an unresponsive man in his cell a little after 7:00 am Saturday. Attempts by jail staff and paramedics to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.
Authorities have not released the man’s name pending notification of relatives.
An autopsy is being performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation
