(Arnolds Park)-Arnolds Park Amusement Park will be illuminated for a special event on October 13, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Promenade Arches at Arnolds Park Amusement Park will be lit in green, teal and pink on October 13th for National Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Michelle Schwerdtfeger is an Ambassador with the Moore Fight Moore Project, which will illuminate 115 buildings and monuments on that day.
She says the project got started with a simple request. “The project is #LightUpMBC, for Moore Fight Moore Strong. Jessica Moore died of metastatic breast cancer and she wanted one building lit up in her town, but she didn’t live long enough to actually see that happen. Her girlfriend started this project and now it’s going global because of her one lighting that she wished she could have.”
She says an online event that day will raise funds for research. “It’s kind of like a telethon kind of thing, it’s going to be a Zoom live to raise money for Metavivor, and 100 percent of the donations will go metastatic breast cancer research
