Storm Lake Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Meth & Firearm Charges

September 30, 2020

(Sioux City)– A Storm Lake has pled guilty to federal meth and firearm charges.

26-year-old Jacob Hernandez admitted that from January 2020 through March 2020 he was involved in a conspiracy that distributed more than four pounds of methamphetamine in the Storm Lake and Fonda areas. In March 2020 law enforcement executed a search warrant at Hernandez’s residence where they seized a little more than $5,000 in cash, a cell phone, torch lighter and vape pen. A search of his garage turned up a .45 caliber pistol, a 20 gauge shotgun, about two ounces of methamphetamine, more than three pounds of marijuana, drug ledgers, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, vacuum seal bags, a vacuum sealer and two ballistic vests.

A sentencing date for Hernandez is pending completion of a pre-sentence report.

The Buena Vista, Clay and Sac County Sheriff’s Offices, Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement and the Iowa Division of Criminalistics Laboratory assisted in the investigation.
