Local activities planned for National 4-H Week October 4-10

September 29, 2020

(Spirit Lake)-National 4-H Week kicks off on Sunday, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Local activities planned for National 4-H Week October 4-10

National 4-H Week will be celebrated from October 4-10.

Dickinson County Youth Coordinator Madeleine Bretey says, one event is already getting underway.  “This year due to the pandemic we’ve had to get a little bit creative with how we’re going to be celebrating National 4-H Week, but we do have some fun things planned.   So, a great example would be our Scarecrow Contest.  This contest has been open to families, businesses and 4-H Clubs, where we’ve encouraged people to sign up beforehand, to put together a scarecrow that focuses on them as people or their business, and then somehow showcases 4-H to spread some fall cheer throughout our Dickinson County Community.”

She adds that several other events will be happening next week.  “Thursday, on our Dickinson County 4-H & Youth facebook page, we will be doing a throwback Thursday, which will be showcasing history of 4-H in Dickinson County throughout the years.  Another opportunity that we’ve been giving to our youth is Wear Green Wednesday, so we are encouraging our current 4-H and those who have just started to join us this year, to wear green or their favorite 4-H gear to school on Wednesday, and encourage people who don’t know what 4-H is to learn a little bit about it.”
