(Estherville)– The city of Estherville issued a warning today (Monday) after learning it’s utility billing/financial software provider was hacked.
City officials say they were notified by Tyler Technologies that an unknown intruder broke into the company’s phone and information technology systems. It wasn’t immediately certain what types, if any information may have been compromised.
In a statement, Elizabeth Burton, the city’s Finance Director and City Clerk says city of Estherville utility customers should be wary of any potential phishing emails or phone calls regarding your bill or payment status. Officials say it’s also a good idea to keep a close on bank account activity.
