(Des Moines)– The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting 992 new positive cases of COVID-19 for the previous 24 hours ending at 10:00 am this (Sat.) morning, along with eight additional deaths. It brings the total number of cases in the state since the pandemic began to 85,425 with the total number of deaths at 1,311.
Locally, Dickinson county reported 16 new cases since Friday. Palo Alto county reported 13 new cases; Clay county had six; Emmet four; and Osceola one.
A number of counties in northwest Iowa are reporting positivity rates of greater than 15 percent over the past 14 days. They include Sioux (at nearly 33 percent, the highest in the state); Lyon, Osceola, Sac, Palo Alto, O’Brien, Cherokee and Ida counties.
