(Sibley)– The Sibley-Ocheyedan School Board adopted social distancing guidelines for classrooms and other facilities during an emergency meeting Thursday evening. It comes on the heels of an outbreak of COVID-19 in the district’s school buildings, forcing many students and some teachers into quarantine. The football game with Emmetsburg that was scheduled for tonight (Fri.) also had to be cancelled due to the number of Sibley-Ocheyedan players impacted by the quarantines.
Social distancing and masks will also be strongly encouraged for those attending athletic events.
There is no school today in the district while staff rearranges desk and furniture to accommodate the social distancing guidelines. Classes at Sibley-Ocheyedan will resume Monday with the new procedures in place.
