ISU Extension & Outreach To Offer Retirement Seminar

September 24, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our thoughts on a lot of things. Your retirement is probably among them. Carol Ehlers, a Human Sciences Specialist in Family Finance with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach says there’s now a lot more to consider when it comes to that…Carol Ehlers01

“So for some they may have contemplated retiring or maybe that was something you had been planning on, but now you’re really re-thinking that. So some employers are also offering some early retirement incentives and so Iowans are considering that early retirement perhaps due to job challenges or changes in territory. There might also be some new concerns that come about as well due to their health. So on top of that, temporary policy changes have made it easier for people to also be withdrawing from their retirement accounts during 2020. So there’s really a lot of different moving parts you might say, or considerations for thinking about retirement any way, and now we have some new things to consider.”

Ehlers says you’ll be able to learn more about that during a seminar they’ll be holding. It’s titled “Rethinking Your Retirement During COVID-19”…Carol Ehlers02

“Even though it is a free workshop it’s going to be available at noon or 5:00 on Tuesday, September 29th, Thursday, October 1st, and there is a pre-registration that’s required through Iowa State University Extension Human Sciences Extension and Outreach website.”
