(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) took official action to bump up a bridge project in on 110th Avenue in the southwest part of the county in the 5-year construction program. The project will now be moved into the 2021 fiscal year. County Engineer Dan Eckert told supervisors he plans to have a bidletting on the locally funded project around July 1st, 2021. Two culvert projects, those at Lower Gar and 180th Avenue, will be delayed to accommodate the change. However Eckert told the supervisors those projects, especially Lower Gar, should remain a high priority in budget talks coming up later this year…
“At this point we’re just backing it up so you could still fund it starting July 1st of next year, so you know, again the key is that the way I understand it the first thing that has to happen down there is we’ve got to get that agreement changed. So you could still negotiate with Milford and anybody else. It’s a great time to do that project, whatever you want to do, the water is so low. But we can’t expend money on it until July 1st. So I don’t think there’s a real big problem backing that one out with our current situation.”
Eckert added designing of the 110th Avenue bridge project is currently underway.
In other business, the supervisors heard a report from Erin Reed of Dickinson County Trails regarding a fundraising event held this past Saturday…
“We raised over $5,000 for, as part of the event in conjunction with Hope Rolls. If you’re not familiar with them they are a local Dickinson county non-profit that provide adaptive bicycles and tricycles for children with disabilities here in Dickinson county. They currently have three children nominated for these bikes. They’ve previously given away five of them and it’s just a great organization. We’re very excited to be a part of it.”
Reed added about 90 people attended the event.
