(Spencer)– Officials with Seasons Center for Behavioral Health say they’ve been awarded a $1,500 in funding through the Clay County Community Foundation to assist with infant mental health services.
The agency says it served 1,285 children between the ages of zero to 18 in 2019 at Autumn’s Center in Spencer. Of those, they say 54 were between zero and five years of age. Between 2017 and 2018 Seasons Center served 120 children ages zero to five.
Resources for the children include therapeutic toys and various techniques to support the development of healthy behavior and role-playing.
Jean Drey, Vice President of Program Development at Seasons Center, says intervention early in a child’s life can affect all aspects of their long-term health, including emotional well-being and social development. She says that correlates with improved family and peer relations, school attendance and grades.
