(Sioux City)– A Spencer man has been sentenced to more than seven months in prison on a federal firearms charge.
21-year-old Isaiah Mixon was sentenced last week after pleading guilty previously to possession of a firearm by a drug user.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says court hearings revealed that on January 6th, 2019 Spencer police responded to a request for a welfare check at Mixon’s residence. Officers discovered Mixon was in possession of 12 grams of marijuana, packaging materials, grinders, recently opened odorless bags that had been mailed to him, $12,000 in cash, a rifle, and ammunition.
In addition to the prison term Mixon must also serve a six month term of supervised release.
