Dickinson Co. To Apply For It’s $218,797 Allocation Of Federal CARES Act Funds

August 28, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday voted to authorize Mike Ehret, the county’s Emergency Management Coordinator, to apply for up to $218,797 in Federal CARES Act funds. Ehret told the supervisors the money would go toward reimbursement for some pandemic-related expenses for the county…CARES Reimbursement

“They’ll allow us to put in for reimbursement of public safety and public health payroll starting March 1st through, I want to say the end of October. They’ll take that figure, whatever we paid, so in this case it would be the deputies, jailers, dispatch, we’ll take that payroll, we’ll take 25 percent of that. The state says we’re going to assume that 25 percent of their time has been spent dealing with covid or covid-related items. So they’ll take that 25 percent and that’s what we would get reimbursed, up to that $218,797.”

Ehret suggested the county put the money in a separate fund in the budget. He said the county’s COVID-19 committee could then make recommendations on how to use that money for any covid-related matters.

Ehret added the county will likely risk losing the money if it doesn’t apply for it.
