Pipe Bomb Found At An Area Lake

August 26, 2020

(Estherville)– A pipe bomb has been found at an area lake.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called at 8:19 pm August 14th to Okamanpedan State Park at Tuttle Lake. The caller reported they had been using a magnet in the water under a bridge at the park to recover fishing tackle when they found a suspicious item. Deputies retrieved the item and contacted the State Fire Marshal’s Office, which determined it was, indeed, a pipe bomb. The device was then rendered safe.

Authorities say the pipe bomb had been under water for some time.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information into the matter to contact them at 712-362-2639.
