(Spencer)– A burn ban is now in effect for Clay county due to the ongoing dry conditions. It went into effect at 9:00 am this (Thurs.) morning and will continue until further notice.
The ban was issued by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and is based on a request it received from county officials.
The ban declares that open burning under current conditions “constitutes a danger to life or property”.
Violation of the order is a simple misdemeanor.
