NW Iowa Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Meth Charge

(Sioux City)– A northwest Iowa man has pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

30-year-old Ernesto Soto of Hawarden entered the plea last week in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says Soto admitted at a plea hearing that law enforcement discovered 34 grams of methamphetamine in a vehicle he was in that was pulled over February 5th of this year in Woodbury county. 1.6 grams of cocaine, baggies and a glass smoking device were also seized. Authorities say atleast 5 grams of the meth that was seized was pure methamphetamine.

Sentencing will be set for a later date.

Soto had been convicted on May 19th, 2014 in Sioux County District Court for intent to manufacture and deliver under 5 grams of meth.
