(Arnolds Park)-The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will host a special Memorial Concert on Friday, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will honor the life of Steve Daly with a special Live at the Lake Memorial Concert on Friday evening.
Executive Director Clay Norris says Daly was one of the Association’s most dedicated volunteers. “He was there every single time we needed him, and I understand he never missed a Rock the Roof for lie 14 or 15 years, and just volunteered for everything. What we’re going to be doing is, Mogen’s Heroes, one of the favorite groups of Steve’s, is going to be playing. We had planned that some time ago, and we have decided to turn it into the Steve Daly Memorial Concert. There’s going to be a special donation. He always championed the 50/50 raffle, he was the one that would walk around and collect the money and we’re just going to call it a 50/50 donation, with 50 percent going to the American Cancer Society, which was a cause of his, and 50 percent going to his beloved Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association.
He notes that there will also be live music with their rock the Patio event on Thursday evening. “The Mellow Dees of Okoboji, most of their music is instrumental, and it covers a wide range, from back in the 1950s all the way to current songs that they do.”
Both events will be live on the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll facebook page.
