(Arnolds Park)-It’s Vettes in the Park this weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The University of Okoboji Corvette Club’s Vettes in the Park will be held this weekend.
Chairman Brent Tewes says the cars will be coming to the Lakes area from Sanborn on Friday, but not in an organized cruise. “In years past we’ve had an organized cruise, so we all followed each other up there, but this year it’s just gonna be people can get there on their own, so, they can go at their own leisure.”
He adds that Saturday’s Vettes in the Park will be modified as well. “So this year, with everything going on in the world, we decided we’d simplify, you know, we won’t have money transfer, no tee shirts or whatever, and so people can just drive up and we’ve got a route picked down through the Park there and around and out by the stage. Social distancing, we’re gonna keep the cars 6 feet apart. for those who choose to park, we’re gonna have you sign a waiver and we’re gonna recommend you do the CDC rules, and so that’s quite a bit different than what we’ve done in the past. The public can come in, you know they have the wooden boat show going on, they’ve got a farmer’s market there. That worked out well last year. They’re gonna kind of be out in front of the stage there this year, so that’s going on. People can come in and see the new pier and the boardwalk and it is open to the public.”
Vettes in the Park will be available for viewing Saturday from 8-2 at Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park.
