Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation Receives $10,000 Donation

July 21, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– The Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from Avangrid Renewables in Lake Park.

Vice President of Marketing and Regional Services Jennifer Gustafson says Lakes Regional Healthcare will use the funds to help with their COVID-19 response capabilities…Jennifer Gustafson on Avangrid Donation cut 1

“They were adamant that we use this to help our COVID-19 response. They were humbled also by the things people did throughout the community. You know we had a number of businesses give to Lakes Regional Healthcare and the community in so many ways and they wanted to be a part of that. And so we identified two different ways that we could use the funds. The first one is toward negative pressure rooms. We already have negative pressure rooms for patients with infectious diseases, whether that’s COVID-19 or any other infectious diseases. Basically rooms that are negative pressure take the air that is in the room that has viruses and other infectious germs, and releases it outside through a hepa filter and replaces the room with new, clean air. Their gift will allow us to purchase portable negative pressure machines to modify existing patient rooms into negative pressure rooms to accommodate more patients with various infectious diseases.”

She adds that a second option would allow thermal scanning of staff and patients, and she notes that donations are always helpful…Jennifer Gustafson on how to donate cut 2

“If people are interested in donating to Lakes Regional Healthcare they can do that by calling Sonja Ham at 336-8791 or they can just visit us online. There is a donation link there that makes it real easy to donate online.”
