3A District Court Judicial Nominating Receives 8 Applications For Upcoming Judge Vacancy

(Spencer)– Eight people have applied for the upcoming vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Don E. Courtney this coming October 1st. 

The applicants include Michael Johnson of Spirit Lake, Shayne Mayer of Rock Rapids, Bridget Bailey of Spencer, Conrad Meis of Algona, John Sandy of Spirit Lake, Ashley Herrig of Storm Lake, Lisa Mazurek of Cherokee and Todd Holmes of Algona.

The commission will hold interviews with the eight applicants July 21st beginning at 8:00 am in the court room at the Clay County Courthouse in Spencer. The interviews will be open to the public, but deliberations and voting will be conducted without the public present. The public attending will be required to abide by COVID-19 protocol for entry into the Clay County Courthouse. Wearing a face mask or shield is mandatory in all court-controlled areas. There will be limited seating in the courtroom to ensure social distancing.
